Keeping our children safe

At Bembridge CE Primary we understand that keeping children safe is everyone's responsibility and we recognise the clear duty under section 175 of the Education Act 2002 to ensure robust arrangements are in place for safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of our children.

We provide children with a safe and stimulating environment, where children are able to share their worries with any adult. In turn, all adults in our school community have the knowledge and understanding of our safeguarding practices in order to protect our children from harm.

Regular training and national updates are given to all adults in our school community.

In line with the 'Safer Recruitment' guidance, all staff and governors, including volunteers who have access to children, in our school have had enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks. Should allegations be made against members of staff we will follow Local Authority guidance in dealing with them. This guidance ensure that the safety of the child is paramount.

Copies of all policies are available from the office.

Online Safety

The use of information technology is an essential part of our curriculum and equipping our children to be safe when online is paramount. Within our curriculum, the children receive information on how to keep themselves safe when using the internet and what to do when they encounter a problem both in school or at home.

In school, the children access the internet through our ICT system which is regularly monitored to ensure pupils are kept safe from potentially harmful and inappropriate content and contact online while at school, including terrorist and extremist material.

We provide regular online safety updates for our parents through our Facebook page and newsletter.
